Meanwhile, amid all of this legal chaos, Carlson is also “raising capital to launch a new company,” according to Puck’s Dylan Byers, who reported that the endeavor “might-if executed adroitly-serve as a paradigm for a generation of TV news personalities with huge followings and fandoms who remain marooned to their desks amid shrinking audiences." Carlson’s lawyers have made First Amendment arguments and accused Fox of breaching his contract.

It was the exact kind of bigotry and fearmongering he'd spewed for years at Fox News, which recently agreed to pay $12 million to Abby Grossberg, a former producer on his primetime show who had accused him of creating a toxic workplace. “It’s pretty clear that Rick Levine has no interest in liberating you from anything," he said, referring to Levine by their former name and gender. Late last month, during his eighth installment of “Tucker on Twitter,” former Fox News host Tucker Carlson dedicated a whole five minutes to mocking the “personal journey” of Rachel Levine, the US assistant secretary for health and the nation’s highest-ranking openly transgender official.
